Steps for Building

CSRR 1055 or Portland Terminal 1055

This modeling project has been designed to allow the model railroad enthusiast to build either the Portland Terminal #1055, which was how this engine was originally delivered from Alco in the middle of the twentieth century, or as the Conway Scenic R.R. #1055, which is how the engine exists today. At the North Conway Scenic Railroad of New Hampshire for past twenty years or so, #1055 had been a primary engine working almost daily for that popular tourist railroad. During the summer of 1999 #1055 has been on display parked off the side of the turntable in the North Conway Station yard. No matter how you decide to build your engine, the results will be worth the effort and enjoyed for years to come.

Parts List:

1. Atlas S4 (or S2 will do in a pinch) switch engine preferably an undecorated version.
2. Details West – Air Horn  AH-254 K3 ALL BELLS FORWARD  #235-254* 1 horn for 1999 to present 2 horn sets if earlier date desired to match videos from North Conway.
3. CAL-SCALE MARKER LAMPS  MA-280 (1 pair)  #190-280*
4. PRECISION SCALE Co.  48291  Clear jewels .053 (12 per envelope)  #585-48291*
5. One pair of Kadee #5 couplers (OPTIONAL)
6. Paints Grey Primer, Black Gloss, White, Silver and Gloss Clear coat.
7. Custom Decal Sheet. -  NECR#001 - The silhouette of the North Conway Station has been unavailable as a decal until we did the artwork and created the decal sheet for this very special engine.
8. One bottle of Microscale – MICRO SET (blue label setting solution).
9. One bottle of Microscale – MICRO SOL (red label setting solution for irregular surfaces).
10. One bottle of Scalecoat Paint stripper. This item only necessary if an undecorated engine is unavailable.
