Steps for Building PLRR GP7M #302

This modeling project has been designed to allow the model railroad enthusiast to build a model of the Plymouth and Lincoln Railroad (PLRR) / Winnipesaukee Scenic R.R.  #302. This engine was originally delivered as an EMD GP 7 to the Rock Island railroad where it served for many years. Later in its career it was sold to the New England Southern railroad.  Most recently it was acquired by PLRR, the upgrade work being done at their facilities in Lincoln, New Hampshire. Here the engine had its short hood lowered and its cab modernized.  The photo above was taken in late November of 2000 right after it received its new paint and the overhaul completed.

1. Walthers GP 9M engine preferably an undecorated version. Decorated unit will need to be paint striped and primed. For this project I started with an Amtrak unit # 760 (931-123)

13. Paints Grey Primer, Black Gloss, Maroon Gloss, Yellow Gloss, Platinum Silver and Gloss Clear coat.
14. Custom Decal Sheet. -  NECR#026.
15. One bottle of Microscale – MICRO SET (blue label setting solution).
16. One bottle of Microscale – MICRO SOL (red label setting solution for irregular surfaces).
17. One bottle of Scalecoat Paint stripper. This item only necessary if an undecorated engine is unavailable.
